Nishant Amatya (he/him) is a Nepalese-Canadian educator, composer and arranger from Surrey, BC and currently residing in Victoria on the unceded traditional territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt, W̱SÁNEĆ and lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. He completed his BMus (Education) at UVic in 2023 and is currently completing his PDPP (BEd). His first work, Journey’s End, was premiered by the UVic Wind Symphony in October 2022, and he has composed/arranged for various other groups, including the UVic Big Band, Kasperl Quintet and Isabel Leong’s Ghibli Jazz Orchestra. His musical inspirations include composers such as Joe Hisaishi, Yoko Shimomura, Carlos Eine and Charlie Rosen.
